When it comes to dealing with the UK’s lack of airport capacity, doing nothing is no longer an option.
The UK has spent the last decade prevaricating and delaying a decision on building a new runway at Heathrow and discussing expansion at Gatwick, as successive governments have avoided this highly political issue. The coalition government has asked Sir Howard Davies to lead an Airports Commission and recommend how to finally deal with this and his report is due in 2015. The UK and in particular the business community cannot afford to miss this opportunity and delay decisive action again and risk losing its international hub status.
